Cindy San Miguel is the Assistant Director for the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Maternal and Child Health (MCH). In this position, Cindy manages the administration of the CoE-MCH through program planning, evaluation, and development. Cindy supports the UIC CoE-MCH in leading the Title V MCH Internship Program, a national internship program out of the National MCH Workforce Development Center. Cindy is a graduate of the UIC School of Public Health in community health sciences and maternal and child health. She was the president of the Minority Student for the Advancement of Public Health and was also the recipient of the 2016 Alan W. Donaldson Scholarship. Cindy also brings with her a wealth of experiences in community health. Her past work experience includes lung health education through the Respiratory Health Association at various ambulatory clinics of the Cook County Hospital and Health System, and she was also a community-based doula for young mothers in the South-Side of Chicago.
Cindy’s commitment to advocacy on issues related to maternal and child health extend beyond her role at the CoE-MCH. She previously served as the president for the EverThrive IL associate board and served as an advisor for the Gary Elementary Pen Pal Program, which she founded at the UIC School of Public Health in 2015. Cindy currently is the advisor for UIC chapter of Planned Parenthood Generation Action and is also on the advisory committee for Chicago AHEC.
